2014 UBC Engineering Physics Robotics Competition

Indiana Robot and the Temple of the Zipline

Seen above is the challenge that Team 2 designed the robot for. Teams of four must build autonomous robots to attempt to return the artifacts and final idol to the start. First, black tape must be followed up a ramp to the beginning of the rock pit, all while picking up the first 3 small artifacts. Once at the rock pit the robot can only use an infrared light beacon to naviagte towards the final idol. If successful in picking up the idol, the temple of blocks will fall and the robot can choose to return the way they came - and take on the remains of the fallen temple and boulder - or take the zipline down.

All teams are provided with raw materials and fabrication tools such as a laser cutter, waterjet cutter, machine shop, and 3D printer. All circuits are soldered togehter from basic circuit elements. Furthermore, the robot's software is written using an Arduini/Wiring like board called the TINAH Board.
